Fall Retreats!!!

Fall is here and school begun!
Youth Ministry is excited to announce our Fall Retreats!

Calling all high school students! What is God calling you to right now, and in years to come. Join us November 4-6 at the Diocesan Youth Convention in Yakima! The theme this year is "Respond" it compels us all to Believe in Christ, Follow Him, and Act as He would in our daily lives. We invite everyone to respond to the call to be on fire for our faith. We respond to the call to personal healing and growth in our self and in the culture. This theme is appropriate because as we encounter the living Christ in the Eucharist and Confession, talks, music and each other we cannot stay the same.
We are pleased to announce Fr Nathan O'Halloran, SJ, to be the keynote speaker for the weekend. Father is a priest with the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) He entered the Jesuits in 2003 and ordained this past year. He will be sharing his testimony on how he continues to respond to God's call in his life by standing up for the vulnerable among us. We are also excited once again this year to have a live band featuring Alex Street. Alex hails from Boise, Idaho and has performed around the Northwest and through the nation.

The DYC will be held at Holy Family in Yakima from November 4 to 6. The cost for the convention is $50 and registrations are due October 23rd.

Middle school students please do not despair, there is HOPE!

We are calling all middle school students to join us for Hands of Hope Middle School Retreat! Please consider joining us November 11-13 at Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center. In a world that tells us many things, some of them are good others are not so good, we can miss the message of Hope. We are going to slow down, quiet down, and find the reason for our Hope. Christ is the reason to Hope! Christ meets us where we are at, right where we are at, here and now. We are called to take our hope back to our homes and schools.
We will be joining students from several other parishes around the Tri-Cities for Fun, Games, Talks, and Music! Several of the speakers will be from St Joseph while others will be from other parishes. We will hear testimonies about the reason for our hope and what to do when the world around us seems dark and hopeless. We will also have Anthony and others join us in leading music.

Registrations Weekend this past week!

This past weekend Channa Hobbs and I were in the back of the Church after all the Masses signing up and collecting all your religious education and youth group registrations. We missed many more. We are hoping to collect all the registrations by August 30th. By getting your registrations in early we will be better able to serve the youth in the parish when we start our programs on the week of September 18th. You can pick up a copy of the registration in the back of the church or online. Middle school and high school schedule will be online by next Monday. If you put an email that is comparable with GoogleCalendar on the registration I will share my calendar with you so you stay up to date with the appropriate programs.

BIBLE STUDY TONIGHT

We will be having a bible study tonight from 7 to 9pm for anyone going into high school this fall. Archbishop Fulton Sheen said, " The Old Testament is like a radio with the hidden voice announcing the One to come. The New Testement is like a television because the Word became both audible and visible." I will see you at the PAC tonight!
