The Confirmation Program at St Joseph typically starts in 10th grade and is a two year program. The Confirmation Program works together with the high school youth group to prepare students for the Sacrament of Confirmation and living out a mature adult faith. This year to better serve the needs of busy students we are going to try to have both a Sunday afternoon and a Wednesday evening class once a month. Students must attend one of these classes every month. The Sunday afternoon class will remain from 2 to 4:45PM and will meet in the youth room. The Wednesday class will meet from 6:15 to 9PM on the first Wednesday in the youth room. Please check the calendar for dates.
Youth group is every Sunday from 5 to 6:45PM. If students have not made it to Mass earlier we offer the Last Chance Mass at 7PM. The Confirmation classes and points system of Confirmation preparation are designed to give students more flexibility in their busy schedules. While the SupperSunday model is held at Holy Spirit and Christ the King, the program, times and format of these Sundays varies.
Along with attending Confirmation classes the students are required to attend and participate in a number of other events throughout the year. These events include but are not limited to retreats, regular Sunday youth group, and many other activities. During the 2 years of preparation a 3 day weekend retreat is required. This retreat must be focused on the preparation for Confirmation and is above and beyond other retreats and conferences. Over the course of 2 years each student needs 30 hours of Community Service. 10 Mass Reflections will be required by the end of each year to demonstration a reflection on both Scripture and the Mass.
Confirmation is typically held in late April or Early May depending on the Bishops availability.
